Melanie's quick to nod. She'd been thinking of the same thing. A hurled object won't be as enticing as a live animal would be, but trying to hunt something down is out of the question. She can't leave Daniel alone, and she probably wouldn't find anything down here, anyway. This hardly seems like fox territory.

"Do you have anything small that you wouldn't mind parting with?" she quietly asks. "Something that smells human?" No matter how hard she throws something, it's going to come to a halt eventually. If it smells human, that could buy them a few more seconds of distraction.
