It seems to both take forever and no time at all before he gets to see Daniel again. It's not as bad now he's got that little glimmer of hope. Something to look forward to, even if he doesn't know when the time he's waiting for will come. But he can focus on it, he can remind himself when things get bad, and he can keep his head down and do as he's told, even when it's horrible. And less acting out means less punishment.
