Daniel doesn't look at him directly but stays focused on a more distant point, specifically the section of gray wall just beyond Seth's left shoulder. He's afraid of what he might inadvertently communicate to Seth's captors if he meets the other man's eyes and can't tamp down the automatic emotional response quickly enough. He has to stay detached. He has to stay detached.

"I think you should start weighing your options. You've been here for a while." Like Seth needs reminding. But he needs to work in his point - "There's no reading between the lines here."

Daniel's composure slips as he says it, barely. He folds and his eyes dart to lock with Seth's and then back again, but the words are dull and patient and spoken without inflection, the model of obedience. And the mother of all subtle signals. All right, so it was a poor job, but it doesn't matter if Daniel got the message across.
