Daniel wishes he could come by some means of navigation as opposed to simply wandering and hoping he doesn't run into anything that gets him crushed or mangled or killed. He's reached his limit as far as any of those options go. He's getting better at distinguishing the Dreaming from reality, at least. This time the dream had the courtesy to make it obvious when it dropped him in the middle of nowhere in his old SGC-issue green BDUs, though Daniel is yet to figure out how to get it to give him back his sidearm as well.
The dream also explains the presence of Aliyah, but her existence feels so natural and normal that it initially took him a while to catch on. He thinks he must have met her before. She's an extension of his own self - it only makes sense, after all.
"Daniel," she warns in tense undertone, ears flicking up and hackles rising. He mimics her wary posture automatically, even if he's getting tired of stopping to listen for the thus far nonexistent danger every few minutes.
This time it doesn't seem entirely unwarranted. Aliyah spots the distant bipedal figure first, then the slight four-legged creature beside them. Daniel can just barely make out the silhouette printed against the thoroughly unsettling glow of mist between tree trunks, and they both halt.
Relieved to have stumbled upon another living soul and not at all in touch with the remotest instinct for caution, Daniel cups his hands around his mouth and calls out:
no subject
