Daniel pauses for a minute, listening intently. Aliyah moves toward the mouth of the cave, ears no longer pressed flat against her skull but swiveling faintly as she listens.
"I don't hear anything nearby," she says after a moment.
"Me neither." He turns back to the faint outline of Julian, tries to peer past the crack fragmenting one of his lenses. "I - it felt like there was something, yeah. But it could've been..." He trails off into a hopeless shrug. It could have been any number of things. It could have been the Rift. It could have been something harmless, like an earthquake or any number of similarly mundane explanations.
...Or it could have been a massive raging creature intent on slaughtering them all horribly which, with Daniel's track record, seems far more likely.
