Melanie looks faintly perplexed by the spurts of foreign language. It's sort of hard to answer his question when she's not sure what he's asking, though from context she'd guess he just isn't sure what sort of dream she means. Maybe he thinks she meant it in a too-good-to-be-true sort of way and not in the literal sense of the word. But that hardly makes sense, either, because being stuck in a creepy forest without his ship isn't a good thing.
Best to try again, and to just be as clear as possible. "I'm not sure what those words mean - the not-English ones," she admits. "I only know a little bit of French and Spanish, and I'm sure it wasn't either of those." If it was latin-based, she figures she would have recognized something. As it is, all she can do is offer an apologetic little shrug. Whatever language it is, it might not even exist in her universe, so she's not disappointed in herself for not recognizing it. But if they want to actually have a proper conversation about all this, he needs to know that she's missing a good chunk of what he's saying. Context only makes up for so much.
"And when I say this is a dream," she continues, "I mean that you're dreaming. You're asleep - we both are - and this is literally a dream." She makes a little forest-encompassing gesture with one hand. "You're probably on Serenity right now, as we speak." She watches him closely, wondering if he's going to believe any of this, then offers, "I can prove it, if you like." Nikolaos could prove it, more likely. Guessing her plan, he gives her ear a disapproving tweak with his beak, but that's as far as he can take his objection without doing precisely what she wants him to do.
