The rift pulling him along with Daine for her trip home makes even less sense than it pulling him to New York. At least that was a kind of neutral ground, where all the rifties where just victims pulled from their home worlds. Sending him along to someone else's world seems cruel, even by the rift's normal standards.

Still, at least it sent him (if it sent him) with someone he knows and likes. He's reaching for Daine's hand - for support and apology - when she casually mentions getting him home from here.

"Wait - what? People here go to other realms?" He isn't even going to touch the dragons; there's only so much he can handle at one time. "Is that common?" he asks, not wanting to get his hopes up, but feeling a flicker of hope just the same. Not to mention feeling darkly amused that the rift spat him out in a world that might be able to circumvent it.
