Something is... off, about that answer. Lucifer does not believe it; he thinks this abomination is lying to him. Or, at the very least, not telling the whole truth. It's the hesitation, perhaps-- so called God-Kings do not hesitate. They shouldn't hesitate, anyway.

So, Lucifer pushes the issue.
