Booth isn't someone he wants to deal with in general, but he certainly doesn't want the man realizing that he's got a friend now. Guiteau is one thing, but Booth is a devious bastard. They're at the foot of the memorial now, and he starts up the many (many) steps, though he's clearly tiring too. "I don't think he'll follow us in."
That's based on no real logic. It isn't as though this is a church, and Booth a vampire. It just doesn't seem like a place he'd want to hang out.
