The question is valid even if it's a bit oddly put. "Not really," he answers after a moment. Not beyond just continuing as he has, taking precautions and coping and managing it. Which he realises is not ideal, but he still has problems seeing the permanence of his situation. He has trouble really envisioning a future, and so it doesn't seem like that much of a big deal.
