Johnny seems - hesitant. Daniel looks at him uncertainly, not really sure how to progress.

Then they are both saved the trouble by the continuously immolating thing shuffling up the stairs, arms outstretched, jaws parted in an unearthly, rasping wail.

Daniel throws himself forward and away from the thing, landing heavily on his stomach, and immediately flips himself over to crab away from it as it swarms toward them in all its clawing, howling, pyroclastic glory.

"The hell - "

Oh god, but it has teeth. Teeth, and eyes, and -

"It's human," Daniel whispers, desperation breaking the word at its center. "It's human."
