"We're dreaming?" Steven says as Allirea blurts out, "I'm a daemon?" They turn to give each other looks of mutual appreciation and surprise, then look back to the Balladeer and Beth.

"How do you know this is a dream?" Steven asks. "It feels real."

"And what's a daemon?" Allirea tacks on. She changes shape again, clambering up onto Steven's head as a ring-tailed lemur. "Aren't demons bad?"
