Daine isn't so sure the mess with Carthak could have been solved by any one person, but it's not as if it matters anymore. "We took care of Carthak," she says, torn between pride at what they'd accomplished and shame for the uncomfortably large role she played in it, "so we won't be getting any more trouble from them, at least. Their new emperor is much more sensible than the old one was."
