"Oh." Daine hasn't missed his tone, and she flushes unhappily while Coromotto flicks back his ears and tucks in his tail in canine apology. "I didn't mean she's not real, only that she's not really an elephant - not one of the People," Daine clarifies. Dropping into a crouch, she slings an arm over Coromotto's shoulders, and receives a lick to the chin in return. The contact is comforting, and she feels her spirits lift as she straightens back up.
In response to Peeta's second question, she just shrugs again. "We don't know, either. We're connected, but it's not like what I have with the People." It's not an easy thing to pin down, in part because in some ways, it feels like less of a connection than the one she shares with animals. She can't hear Coromotto's voice in her head, or see through his eyes. But those details seem small in comparison to how close they feel. "It's almost like he's… part of me," she hazards.
