The rift has gotten bored, and has decided it's time to bring people together for another dream party.

This time, when you find yourself within the dream, you'll be somewhere familiar. Perhaps somewhere you feel safe or at home, some place you miss, or were particularly happy at some point in your life. It might not be the same place every time you come back here, though.

There will also be a door where there didn't use to be one, even if there's no wall to surround it. If you go through this door, you will find yourself in endless simple corridor, lined with unmarked doors. And if you go through them, you'll pay a visit to someone else's room.

"Probably should have tied something to the doorknob," Daine mutters as she walks down the hall, Kitten on her hip. She stops in her tracks when she spies some sort of... immortal?... hovering in the hallway.

"Oh," she says quietly, staring in astonishment. She's a little reminded of some of the tinier immortals to have come through the barrier - undines and the like - but this one is far bigger, not that much smaller than Daine, herself. And she's all over feathers, and hovering like a hummingbird!

Well, whatever she is, Daine can't imagine she means any harm. If anything, she looks as lost as they are. "Hullo," Daine ventures. The dragon lets out a soft trill, stretching her neck forward to get a closer look at the newcomer.

Well that's a surprise. Tooth isn't used to teenagers being able to see her; it tends to fade with age, but she's pleased. Even if she's still confused.

"Hello, I'm..."

When the dragon trills its greeting, Tooth can't help but get distracted. "Goodness, I've never seen dragon teeth before!"

Daine blinks at the sudden change of subject. "Most folk wouldn't want to," she replies with a wry little smile. It occurs to her that she might be worried about the dragon, and she hastens to add, "Kitten won't bite."

Tooth waves off the suggestion of a dragon bite, bending down to get a better look. "Goodness, I have never seen such beautiful incisors. You must take very good care of them!"

Kitten gives Daine a baffled sidelong glance as her teeth are closely inspected, though she's not about to object to being admired, even if it's a bit of a surprise. After a moment's hesitation, she nods in response.

"I expect she'll lose them and grow an adult set later," Daine guesses, not entirely sure of herself on this point. Given how slowly dragons grow, she doesn't know if it'll ever come up in her lifetime, anyway. "But dragon teeth are very sturdy." Belatedly realizing she hasn't introduced herself, she adds, "I'm Daine."

When the girl introduces herself, Tooth blushes and laughs a little, floating back up to Daine's face level. "Oh sorry! I'm Toothiana."

"Toothiana," Daine repeats. This one's all about teeth, it seems. "What are you, if you don't mind my asking? Only I've never seen anything like you before, and I've seen quite a lot." Kitten nods her agreement.

When she smiles, the feathers on her head perk up slightly, making everything about her feel bright and alive. "You've never heard of the Tooth Fairy?"

Daine shakes her head, both in answer to Tooth's question and to dispel the strange sense of deja vu this conversation is giving her all of a sudden. "I'm afraid I haven't. But I'm from another realm," she hastens to add. "There are plenty of other things we don't have there, like cars and such."

Kitten twists in Daine's arms to give her an inquiring chirp, and Daine shakes her head. "You really don't want to know. I don't think you'd like them."

Tooth cocks her head slightly, still hovering comfortably in the air. "I've never been somewhere without a tooth fairy! Who collects children's teeth? Stores their memories?"

Daine and Kitten exchange another baffled glance. She's sure there are plenty of varied customs about baby teeth throughout Tortall and its neighboring countries, but the idea of them being collected by some kind of bird-woman is a new one to her. "I s'pose it depends on where you're from," Daine ventures a bit uncertainly. "I know Ma collected mine in a little jar, but I'm not sure what became of it." Lost with the rest of the farm, she'd guess.

"What country? I can't believe there's one I've missed. I'd be a horrible guardian if I did that!" Tooth whizzes from side to side at the thought, feathers drooping even as her mind works busily.

"Tortall," Daine replies. You've probably never heard of it. "It's not on the maps; I've checked."

The deja vu returns with a vengeance at the word 'guardian.' She knows she's had a conversation very much like this one, before, but not with Toothiana, with someone else. After a few moments of puzzling over it, she remembers. "Oh! Do you know Jack Frost?"

"Jack Frost!?" Tooth's sparkle returns and she drifts closer. "I know him! He's a guardian too–or will be, once he realizes it."

"I met him, once," Daine says with a pleased nod. "He seemed nice. Are there lots of guardians where you're from?"

Kitten turns faintly grey at being left out of the loop, but she listens for Tooth's answer with interest.

"Well, there were four of us before him. I guess there's only four still, since he hasn't formally signed on but..." She sighed, slightly dreamy. "He'll come around."

When Daine had last talked to Jack, he'd said he was a Guardian already... but perhaps Tooth is from a different time. If Aly can be from the future, stands to reason Tooth can be from the past. It's fair strange to think about, though, and she's glad this sort of thing only seems to happen in dreams and not the waking world.

"I'm sure he will," Daine agrees. Tooth doesn't have to know how sure she is, right? But perhaps it would be better not to talk too much about it.

"Who are the other guardians?" she asks. Perhaps they're around somewhere.

Tooth's feathers all lift up, showing attention and how pleased she is. Jack will be, she's certain, and if another mortal can see him then there's the proof.

"Me, of course, and then Santa, Bunny, oh...and Sandman!"

Santa, Daine's heard of - she arrived close enough to Christmas to see images of him around. Sandman's a new one, though it's Bunny that gets her attention. "Bunny? Like a rabbit?"

"Easter Bunny," she confirms. "Guardian of Hope."
