I'll See You in My Dreams [WIDE-OPEN PARTY THREAD]

Sometimes the rift only gives the denizens of Manhattan strange dreams. Sometimes, two people will find themselves together in the Dreaming. And other times? Other times, the Dreaming takes hold of dozens of people at once, throwing them all together into one shared mental space while they sleep.

Tonight is one of those nights -- what's more, the rift has outdone itself this time, telepathic tendrils reaching out through the rift into other universes to pull in even those who haven't been physically transported to this world...yet. You might meet a stranger from another world, or you might run into your next-door neighbor. You might notice right away that this isn't the waking world and that you are not alone, or you may drift through blissfully unaware that anything is out of the ordinary. You might not even remember this in the morning at all.

And that's probably going to be fortunate for at least a few people, because what you will notice is the overwhelming desire to get cozy with someone. It's chilly in this big house where you've found yourself, but luckily for you, there are beds, beanbags, and blankets galore, all of them just perfect for getting cuddly with your new friends. Consider yourself lucky that dream-world cameras can't upload photos to the real-world internet.


[It's a Dreaming party, and everyone is welcome! Tag a friend, tag a stranger, whatever! Everyone who's been pulled in will be feeling unusually friendly and cuddly, so get a-snuggling. Some characters (particularly those with strong telepathic defenses) may not be as strongly affected as others; the extent of the Dreaming's effect on each character is up to the mun's discretion.

Also, when we say everyone, we mean everyone. Non-members are welcome to tag into this post, so feel free to voice-test new characters here, and to invite friends who aren't in the game to come do some meeting and greeting. If you've come upon this post and aren't a member of this game, you are welcome to tag into this post.

For those who are familiar with the brbG parties, this is basically like that. Post a tag with your character's arrival and await replies. Time is bendy in here, so each character can have multiple replies/threads. Have fun!]

Well, the Doctor had shifted out of his secure position to look at Andrew, and thus placed himself much more precariously. Which he's now paid for.

When stuff has finished falling on them and gone quiet (except for Andrew's wail), the Doctor says "That one was YOUR fault!"

"It was not!" The denial is more automatic than it is based on reasoned opinion. Andrew gingerly shifts, trying to crawl out from under, and feels the materials shift on top of him. He stops, not knowing how bad it is or how much worse he's making it.

The Doctor lets out a rather undignified squawk. "Don't. Do that," he says tersely. They are, after all, still lying pretty twined together underneath all the debris, and that shifting was definitely invading his personal space.

"Don't do what? We have to get out somehow." But he doesn't move to do it. In fact, as he very deliberately does not move, he becomes more aware of how entwined they are.

"Hold on. Just... Jeez, you're bony," he comments as he starts carefully trying to extricate himself without affecting any sensitive areas or twisting either of them in ways they shouldn't be twisted. He's never had to be in this close contact with himself. He's starting to see what Donna means.

"Look who's talking!" objects Andrew, sensing an opportunity to pull an arm free and doing so despite the discomfort it probably causes the other man. "It's like I've had a bag of doorknobs dropped on me!"

The Doctor grunts when Andrew pulls his arm free, but hey, slightly less tangled at least. "You're the one who dropped on me," he points out, slowly working himself free. He squirms some more, mindful of the shifting above him, until finally he sees daylight (or light, at least) again. "Aha!"

"Aha?" Andrew finds himself somewhat cocooned, his other arm trapped against his side. He squirms, catching sight of the light through the gap the Doctor has created. "How bad is it?"

The Doctor pushes himself up and out a bit, then goes quiet. "...It's bad," he answers after a few moments. There's really only one wall left standing. Shame.

He pushes himself out a bit further, managing to free himself, then starts working to uncover Andrew. He's less careful now, given the fact the fort is beyond saving.

Andrew groans and rolls over, ignoring how it worsens his entanglement. "It's gone, isn't it? I told you, you ruin everything."

Beware the Oncoming Sulk.

The Doctor gives Andrew a very light kick. "I repeat, you launched yourself at me," he answers. He refuses to be blamed. "Would you prefer it if I left you under there, then?"

"Ah!" Andrew flinches away dramatically. To be fair, he couldn't see it coming through the blanket covering his face. He pouts. "You knocked my fort down; the least you can do is rescue me."

The Doctor rolls his eyes so hard Andrew can probably feel it. He does however indeed do so, tossing aside the majority of the soft stuff covering him, until he finally gets far enough down to pull the blanket away from his face.

Ten, meet yourself. Height of maturity, no?

Andrew squints against the sudden light. "Hullo," he says, before tugging an arm free and using it to attempt to help unbury himself.

He's not that bad, he refuses to believe it. He too is the king of denial.

He kicks away a few more pillows, then wades over to investigate the last wall. It's very precarious, and probably won't last long, in fact it already seems to be wobbling a little. Just for fun, the Doctor bends forward and blows on it... causing it to topple over and crumble.

"Oi!" Andrew suddenly finds the strength and dexterity to free himself, squirming loose of the last of the blankets and bopping to his feet, a look somewhere between anger and dismay on his face. "Stop wrecking it!"

Even though there's nothing left to wreck.

"What's to wreck?" he asks, turning to face Andrew with raised eyebrows, then let's himself fall backwards, landing pretty comfortably in the pile of pillows. "You know the fort wouldn't be here after today anyway," he points out.

"I wasn't done using it," replies Andrew, scratching his head and turning on the spot to survey the wreckage. "And James never got to see it."

"James is here?" the Doctor asks, pushing himself up a little to look at Andrew. "What's he like, by the way?" Because yay companions. If Andrew likes him, the Doctor probably will too. Though hopefully not as much as Andrew does.

"Well -- somewhere?" Andrew squints at the open spaces now visible from the wreck of the castle. "I haven't seen him here here, but it stands to reason."

He suddenly realizes that he's made a mistake, and tries to backpedal. "Maybe he didn't end up here."

Because clearly, the moment James meets the Doctor, he'll realise that he's way better than Andrew, and try to get in with him instead, right? Yeah, uh-huh.

"I doubt everyone who's fallen through the rift is here," he points out. "You didn't answer, though. Is he more of a Jamie or a Turlough? Or a Frobisher? Please don't say he's a Jack." He could name more, but he's trying to avoid the particularly painful ones, like Fitz or Adric. And of course no one but the Brigadier is a Brigadier.

James is not allowed to meet anyone who is even the slightest bit superior to Andrew, ever. Since that includes most of the population of the universe, Andrew may need to invest in some padlocks. That, and he's pretty sure the Doctor is going to get all judgmental as soon as he realizes that his duplicates are canoodling.

Andrew makes a face, wishing he hadn't brought James up at all. "He's not a Jack," he says defensively. "Or a Frobisher. He's more, ah...a Doctor. Except not," he adds quickly. "Mostly, he's a James."

Andrew seems to be forgetting who's in charge in their relationship, and who'd be padlocking who. Or perhaps that's just the denial again.

And maybe not judgemental necessarily, but definitely a bit iffy. To an outsider, the details do sound pretty sketchy. "Ah, well, being themselves is always best. Something new. I'd love to meet him." Except maybe the Doctor part, he's skeptical about that. But it could mean a lot of things, really.

But clearly James should have no reason to padlock Andrew, because where is Andrew going to find anyone better than James?

"You'll see when you do. If you do." Andrew isn't disguising the fact that he'd rather the Doctor not meet James all that well, is he?

Completely missing the point there.

"Oh? Is he familiar?" he asks. He's going to ignore the 'if' - he will meet James, thank you. Needs to make sure what kind of crowd his offspring is getting involved in. Or something like that. And he's just nosy.
