I'll See You in My Dreams [WIDE-OPEN PARTY THREAD]

Sometimes the rift only gives the denizens of Manhattan strange dreams. Sometimes, two people will find themselves together in the Dreaming. And other times? Other times, the Dreaming takes hold of dozens of people at once, throwing them all together into one shared mental space while they sleep.

Tonight is one of those nights -- what's more, the rift has outdone itself this time, telepathic tendrils reaching out through the rift into other universes to pull in even those who haven't been physically transported to this world...yet. You might meet a stranger from another world, or you might run into your next-door neighbor. You might notice right away that this isn't the waking world and that you are not alone, or you may drift through blissfully unaware that anything is out of the ordinary. You might not even remember this in the morning at all.

And that's probably going to be fortunate for at least a few people, because what you will notice is the overwhelming desire to get cozy with someone. It's chilly in this big house where you've found yourself, but luckily for you, there are beds, beanbags, and blankets galore, all of them just perfect for getting cuddly with your new friends. Consider yourself lucky that dream-world cameras can't upload photos to the real-world internet.


[It's a Dreaming party, and everyone is welcome! Tag a friend, tag a stranger, whatever! Everyone who's been pulled in will be feeling unusually friendly and cuddly, so get a-snuggling. Some characters (particularly those with strong telepathic defenses) may not be as strongly affected as others; the extent of the Dreaming's effect on each character is up to the mun's discretion.

Also, when we say everyone, we mean everyone. Non-members are welcome to tag into this post, so feel free to voice-test new characters here, and to invite friends who aren't in the game to come do some meeting and greeting. If you've come upon this post and aren't a member of this game, you are welcome to tag into this post.

Daine rears up onto her hind legs so she can put her paws on the Doctor's shoulders, though it's a bit of a stretch, since he's so tall. Doctor what? she asks, blinking at him.

...Damnit. Oh well. "Just Doctor. That's my name." Come on, she's a leopard, she can't argue this.

That's a funny sort of name, but maybe it's normal where he comes from. We have healers where I'm from, so I didn't know about doctors until the rift got me.

Looking up at him has lost its charm. Daine pulls her paws back and leaps up, shifting into an ermine shape as she goes and landing on his shoulder rather neatly, all things considered. Much better.

...WHAT.

The Doctor's a little unsettled, but he manages not to jump or flail too much at the leopard rapidly shrinking as she jumps onto him. Okay...

"Soooo," he says slowly. "I take it you're a shapeshifter, then?" He's caught on the fact that this isn't quite the real world, but people tend to appear as they are in real life.

Yes, Daine says, unaware that she's unsettled him in the least. She scampers over to his other shoulder and peers at him curiously. What are you? Because, begging your pardon, but you don't smell human.

"I'm Gallifreyan," he answers. He's been avoiding the name 'Time Lord' while he's here, given the fact he doesn't actually have a TARDIS now, and doesn't need to advertise his travel history. Except for that sooner or later he's going to end up namedropping some historical figure, but he can worry about that then.

That's very pretty, Daine says admiringly, rearing up on her hindquarters so she can nose through the Doctor's hair. Where's Galli-whatsit?

"Planet far away from here," he answers vaguely, ignoring the fact it no longer exists in this version of reality.

My realm is far from here, too, Daine says sympathetically, curling herself around his neck like a little scarf.

"Yeah? Where are you from?" he asks, reaching up to give Daine a little scritch. Rather comfortable place for her to rest though. It's a bit chilly in here, and now he's got a neck-warmer.

Tortall, she replies, her resigned tone making it clear enough that she doesn't expect him to recognize it. At least the scritches are nice, and she braces her paws against his neck so she can lean into his hand.
