Encampment Under the Sea [Open to All]

Since the dreamers of Manhattan had such a lovely time at the last vaguely-nautical-themed party, the Rift has decided to step things up a notch. Tonight, the dreamers will find themselves in what appears to be a city very much like the one they inhabit in the waking world, full of towering skyscrapers, neon signs, and heavy traffic. But there is one rather crucial difference: this city is located deep underwater, and the aforementioned traffic is mostly whales and fish, with the occasional submersible thrown into the mix.

The walls and windows are heavily reinforced to withstand the pressure of the water outside, and the people who dwell in these buildings seem to be doing rather well for themselves, for the most part. Buildings are connected by enclosed walkways, so barring any horrible accidents, the dreamers should have no problem getting around without getting too wet.

Much like the city they inhabit in the waking world, some areas are more obviously affluent than others, and the dreamers are as likely to stumble upon an upscale club as an underwater pub. But while the chances of a full structural breakdown are slim, there are definitely some areas that are on the leaky side, and a general sense of claustrophobia pervades the city wherever you might find yourself.

Explore. Or, if you're feeling particularly ambitious, attempt to escape. Either way, take care - it's hard to say what might be lurking in the darkness just beyond the city lights.

[ooc: Y'all know the drill. All characters are welcome, whether they are in the game or not. Characters can remember or forget the events of the dreaming at the player's discretion. And the party never stops - backtag into infinity!]

That's as much confirmation as she would ever expect to get from him. It's disgusting as usual, a part of his insanity and contradictory nature; how wretched that he seeks to goad her into destroying him, yet fights tooth and nail for his miserable existence whenever she comes close. But it's also... vindicating, in some well-hidden part of her mind. She was always meant to put a stop to him.

And he must be very rattled, he's not even putting any effort into his insults. She just quirks an eyebrow at him, challenging him in return. "Then who? Who else would you go to for it?" She's honestly curious who else he thinks is capable of it, though she thinks she already knows the answer. Especially considering his pathetic fixation on her, and she sneers. "You know I can, and you know why I won't. Don't pretend to be more of a fool than you are."

It isn't pretending, not currently; he looks at her dumbfounded, though her response was hardly unpredictable. But still, she has it backwards, as always--it's just the opposite of what she said, at least unless she finds some safe method of dealing with him. Then it would likely be green lights on all fronts, he's not misguided enough to think otherwise anymore, which is a horribly embroiled tangle for another day or possibly never. And she does have a point, after all. He'd meant that she's not just circumstantially unable but natively too passive to take that kind of responsibility; but with a non-trivial amount of guidance she'd evolved away from that, now an unknown quantity. Inversely, where he'd once believed the Doctor incapable of taking measures with such finality...that hadn't been the feeling he'd gotten when suturing the Doctor's mind so long ago. Of course in this limbo state it's a bit of a toss up anyway.

No, he has to concede her point, with however much fascinated dismay. She shouldn't even be arguing this, when he'd left her a way off the hook. As always, the unexpected has him somewhat spooked, which makes him respond with carefully cultivated vitriol, "I know the spirit is willing but the flesh prevents. Mine, in this case." Though there are plenty of non-lethal ways to neutralise him, which she just doesn't pursue unless he is deliberately unwary, not that that's hard to lead him into. "And no, I don't know that you could, even if that weren't so. So your 'advice' is pointless and unhelpful, as usual. I will just have to continue existing, as a personal favour to you and your Time." There, purposes for everyone. Now she can leave. Will leave, if she has any sense for the growing consternation and territorial animosity he is projecting.
