Let's Do the Time Warp (Again)

It's that time again, but time seems to be a bit muddled. As usual, people from all over the multiverse are being drawn into the Dreaming by the rift. This time, in addition to (or sometimes instead of) picking up the residents of Manhattan, they take them from their home universe but from a different point in time. You may find yourself suddenly encountering a future version of yourself, or perhaps you bump into a friend taken from long before you met them.

Tonight's setting is also time-twisted. You're still in Manhattan, but it seems to be closer to the 1930s. Specifically, you're in an old hotel. There's the dimly lit lobby, with chairs and tables for relaxed mingling. The bar, where tables are front of a stage, on which a band is playing various hits of the 30s. There's also an outdoor area if you need fresh air. Or you could explore the hotel, but it's mostly corridors, unless you stumble upon an unlocked room.

For game-specific characters, you can choose whether or not they will remember their time in Manhattan if they're taken from the future. You can take your character from multiple different points in time, if you want.]

Loki stares down at the other man, shaking his head.

"No, I have not. Can you tell me where I am? What realm is this?"

"New York," replies Andrew helpfully, though he's more than a bit distracted by the question of where his better other half has gone. "Or a dream, actually, but most of us are in Manhattan."

"I reside in Manhatten, as well," Loki admits, shrugging. "A dream, though...that is of interest. Who's dream is this? Not mine or yours, I think.

"Everyone's. Or the rift's theoretically, but it's more that it picks us up and throws us together -- I don't think it's actually sentient. Is this your first time?"

Because he's going to assume the other man is on the same side of the rift until told otherwise.

"I've been through rifts before. I've yet to encounter one in New York."

[bluesuit_handy]

"It seems to be more traversible in one's sleep," comments Handrew. "Most of us it's pulled through all the way, though. When have you been through one before? Did you go back the way you'd come?"

"There are many rifts throughout the nine realms, some of them even leading to and from Asgard. Some allow two way travel and some do not. I gather this one does not?"

[bluesuit_handy]

"Nine?" Andrew's caught off guard by his new acquaintance actually being sure of a number of 'realms.' He frowns and shakes his head. "Not that anyone's discovered. This rift seems to pull from any number of universes -- some very similar to this one, others not."

"I seem to have confused you and I've been rude. Do forgive me," Loki says, a bit cheekily. "I am Loki, of Asgard. You may know me as one of the Avengers? May I ask your name?"

"…Nnno," replies Handrew slowly. "No I don't know you, not no you can't ask, 'course you can ask. I'm Andrew."

Wait. "Did you say Loki?"

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Andrew," Loki tells him politely. He grins. "Yes, I did. I am Loki. You may of heard of me in certain myths."

"I may," agreed Andrew, though the grin that spread across his face wasn't entirely credulous. In order to verify, he opts for one of the rudest questions he can think of. "Is the one about the horse true?"

Loki glares.

"I don't permit anyone to mock me or my children."

[bluesuit_handy]

"Oh, no, of course not," agrees Andrew quickly, though he's really failing to wipe that grin off his face. "But, ah...well, you're not exactly the first person I've met claiming to be a god."

"I didn't claim to be a god," Loki corrected, imagining Bruce's reaction to that statement. "I said I am the basis for the Loki of Norse mythology."

[bluesuit_handy]

"Ah, so just someone humans have mistaken for a god. That's a bit more reasonable, I'll give you that."

Handy glances down the hall, looking suddenly troubled again. Where is the rest of him?

Loki follows his gaze.

"Is something wrong?"

[bluesuit_handy]

Andrew frowns. "I've misplaced something."

Technically, this probably isn't the sort of thing an Avenger usually helps with. Still, this is an odd situation and Loki isn't inclined to be picky about the matter.

"Anything I can help with?"

[bluesuit_handy]

"If you haven't seen another me...probably not," sighs Andrew. "He's always disappearing on me."

"Another you...you mean someone who looks like you? A twin?" Loki asks, a bit confused, for once.

[bluesuit_handy]

Though he'll never admit it, it gives Andrew pleasure to confuse people this way. "Another me," he repeats. "Same size, obviously."

Obviously.

"Yes, so you said, but there are many ways for someone to be a duplicate of you. Still, I can assure you that you are the only you that I've met so far."

[bluesuit_handy]

Andrew finally relents. "We've split in half," he admits. "It happens from time to time. First time I've done it in a dream, though, sort of have to wonder if there's two of me in bed at the moment."

"You aren't human, then," Loki concludes, is tone showing he knows he's stating the obvious. "Where are you from originally?"
